THE FULL EXPRESSION OF CHRIST

I HOLD THE KEYS

“I can’t stop thanking God for all of you—every time I pray I think of you and give thanks. But I do more than thank. I ask—ask the God of our Master, Jesus Christ, the God of glory—to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing Him personally, your eyes focused and clear, so that you can see exactly what it is He is calling you to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life He has for Christians, oh, the utter extravagance of His work in us who trust Him—endless energy, boundless strength! All this energy issues from Christ: God raised Him from death and set Him on a throne in deep heaven, in charge of running the universe, everything from galaxies to governments, no name and no power exempt from His rule. And not just for the time being, but FOREVER. HE IS in charge of it all, has the FINAL WORD on everything. At the center of all this Christ rules the church. The church, you see, is not peripheral to the world, THE WORLD IS PERIPHERAL TO THE CHURCH. The church is Christ’s body, in which He speaks and acts, by which He fills everything with His presence” (Ephesians 1:15-23 – the Message).

I feel this is what Holy Spirit wants for this week; just to thank and praise our AWESOME GOD! We just need to stretch what little faith we have and GRASP and HOLD ON TIGHT to the ONE in CONTROL! I often talk with friends and describe my day to day life in Christ as being like a giant roller coaster ride. I get into Him and together we go slowly up the mountain. I am not fond of heights and as I go up, I am often looking back and DOWN, watching terra firma getting further away and it’s just plain SCARY! I think that’s how we all feel as we are called out of our particular “comfort zone” and you know, I think God knows it too. He will stop and let you take a breath or two and then off you go again. I remember being on a particularly high ride and when I got to the top, my only thought was, “Oh NO! Now we have to go down!” Can you recall when the car starts to fly downward at least 1000 miles per hour and how your stomach sort of comes up into your chest and your scream is just one continual howl? Well, that’s how many feel when it’s time to leave their “mountain top glory experience” to head down into the valley where God’s perfect work in you begins.

Many of us think that we are the one who is “called to help those poor, lost souls find out who they are in Christ.” Right? No, I don’t think so. I believe God created the world around us, just as it is, and He put each of us where we are for the SPECIFIC PURPOSE of CHANGING US. God arranges who we meet, when and where we meet them and He watches to see how we act in the situations He creates. I have often prayed all the way to work thanking God for all He has done, for each of you, and for the workday ahead. I ask that in all I do and say, I would bring glory to Him. When I get to work, at least once or twice in the first hour I would have to say I do NOT bring Him glory. It could be just as simple as a negative thought about someone. He says in His Word, “Take every thought captive…” (2 Corinthians 10: 5). So, I am given another opportunity at another time to go over the same situation until I get it JUST RIGHT and my mind is RENEWED in that area (Romans 12: 2). When I get off the ride I am always CERTAIN I’ll never go on again, but God draws me back into Him and up we go! I am so grateful for His mercy and for His unconditional love.

When you look at the world about you what do you see? Do you see God all around you? Some of you are not working, some have lost homes and family, some are very ill and in great pain, some have lost all hope of anything positive happening in their lives, some are fighting in wars, some are in jail, some are being abused, neglected, abandoned, and rejected, some are facing divorce after many years of marriage, some are single and pregnant, some are dying, and the list goes on. Do you see God all around you? We hear the news and watch television and see nations trembling in fear as they see what they THOUGHT was going to last forever, suddenly isn’t. Do you see God all around you?

“In the BEGINNING was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the BEGINNING. Through HIM all things were made. IN HIM was life, and that life was the light of men” (John 1: 1-4). “I AM the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “Who is, and Who was, and WHO IS TO COME, the ALMIGHTY” (Revelation 1: 8). “Do NOT BE AFRAID. I am the First and the Last. I am the LIVING ONE; I was dead, and behold I am ALIVE for EVER and EVER! I hold the keys of death and Hades” (Revelation 1: 17, 18). “Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with Me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. I AM the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End” (Revelation 22: 12, 13). He is as near to you as your next breath; He is everywhere, all knowing, and all powerful GOD! Oh Hallelujah, what a SAVIOR!

“For the LORD Himself WILL COME down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the LORD in the air. And so we WILL BE WITH THE LORD FOREVER. Therefore, encourage each other with these words. Now, brothers (and sisters), about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you KNOW VERY WELL that the day of the Lord WILL COME like a thief in the night” (1 Thessalonians 4: 16 – 5: 1, 2).

“From Darkness to Light” (Author Unknown)

Death is not death if it kills no part of us save that which hindered us from perfect life.
Death is not death if it raises us in a moment from darkness into light, from weakness into strength, from sinfulness into holiness.
Death is not death if it perfects our faith by sight and lets us behold Him in Whom we have believed.
Death is not death if it gives us to those to whom we have loved and lost, and for whom we have lived, and for whom we long to live again.
Death is not death if it rids us of doubt and fear, of chance and change, of space and time, and all which space and time bring forth and then destroy.
Death is not death for CHRIST has conquered death, for Himself and for all those who trust in Him.

My question: “Are you ready?”
