There are millions who know first hand what physical hunger is; however, there are even more who are unaware that their spirit is starving.

A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries the bones.

Have you ever been around someone who is filled with joy and laughs alot?  It makes you feel better and will most likely make you smile and even a laugh too.  Bitterness and negativity can actually be the cause of physical and emotional illness.  SMILE and the whole world smiles with you! 🙂

Use your freedom to serve one another in love; that’s how freedom grows.  Love others as you love yourself…

There are so many of us that provide service to others with a long face and furrowed brow.  However, these five people make love for others a pattern for living, a habit.  The proof that they love God is in the fact that they serve those less fortunate with great joy, a cheerful countenace, and kind words.  Love is the power by which they accomplish all they do, every day of the week.

“You, O God, provide from Your goodness to the poor”

On any given day, you could potentially lose every possession (physical, emotional, spiritual, fiancial).  What would you do if it was this day?  All of us have gifts, ability, and some free time to reach out to others…are you doing what you can to help those around you who need the help right now?

“A word spoken kindly is like apples of gold in settings of silver.”

Each new day presents us with opportunities to speak kindly to those whom we come into contact with:  our family members, co-workers, friends, and even those we don’t know.

There are two major parts in communication; a message being sent and a message being received.  It is important that the receiver understands all aspects of the message that the sender is giving.  This would include the meaning of the words, the tone being used, the body language, etc.  Words within our language can change in meaning over time and a specific word can have a very different meaning within various cultural groups.

This was illustrated very well when my new puppy, Yoshi and I attended our first class in obedience training last night.  It was made clear to me that you can use any word in a friendly tone and it will be received in a different way than if you use the same word with a stern tone.  Also, if you use a word that the receiver has never heard before and it requires a specific response or action, you can bet that the receiver won’t be doing what you have asked. 

Our relationships with people can be affected either positively or negatively by the words we speak, particularly if they are written words.  The person reading cannot see any body language and can not hear the tone of your voice.
