And Moses said to Aaron,
“This is what the LORD spoke, saying:
‘By those who come near Me
I must be regarded as holy;
And before all the people
I must be glorified’.”
(Leviticus 10: 3)
The glory of the LORD (grandeur, splendor, magnificence, majesty, resplendence, impressiveness, nobility, excellence, stateliness, and dignity, etc.) is described throughout the Word of God. But His glory is not just something that we can just read about.
We can see evidence of His glory all around us. I believe there are many today who KNOW the glory of God and who are used tremendously by the LORD to lift Jesus up so the world may see Him and come to know Him and desire Him as Lord (John 12: 32). There are also many words that describe what it means to “give glory to”: “pay homage, exalt, revere, deify, adore, worship, bow down and worship, beautify, elevate, praise, laud, extol, honor, celebrate, sing the praises of, thanksgiving, gratitude, etc.
I want to go through some passages of Scripture that will illustrate both SEEING and KNOWING the glory of the LORD, that in His miracles He manifested His glory, and the people then acknowledged Him as truly God. “And great crowds came to him, bringing with them the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute, and many others, and they put them at his feet, and he healed them, so that the crowd wondered, when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled healthy, the lame walking, and the blind seeing. And they glorified the God of Israel” (Matthew 15: 30, 31). I have always believed that many “miracles” are manifested in crowds where many are lost; that the miracle is used to open the blinded eyes of those lost. There is a passage of Scripture that I often pray for family and people I know NEED the LORD in their lives. “And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled ONLY to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the GLORY of Christ, who is the image of God” (2 Corinthians 4: 3,4). Ephesians 6: 12 reminds us that warfare over souls is done in the spiritual; a supernatural phenomenon.
I believe God prepares hearts to see and that it is a miracle. “The miracle” that will pull the veil of the enemy down, allowing the LIGHT of the Gospel to flood the souls of these whose hearts have been made ready to receive.
HIS PERFECT TIMING AND IN HIS PERFECT WAY! Hallelujah!
When I read the descriptive words (Matthew 15: 30, 31) lame, blind, crippled, mute I see spiritually disabled brothers and sisters as well. I have had personal experience of being crippled in my walk. Note the words: “… and they put them at his feet and he healed them.” This is awesome! Each of us has ability to bring others and put them at the feet of Jesus through PRAYER. You don’t even have to be right there with your friend, your brother, or sister because there is NO DISTANCE IN PRAYER (thank You, Holy Spirit)! Just bring them to JESUS and lay them at His feet and allow Him to bring to each of them the “miracle of healing”!” Praise the LORD!
The second example is found in Luke 5: 17- 26 and here we read about being in the midst of many who were just looking for reasons to get rid of Jesus. We also see that there were some who already KNEW about the GLORY of the LORD and they had a friend who was paralyzed and apparently living in sin. They wanted Jesus to heal their friend but the place was packed. Did they give up and say, “We’ll come back another time?” No, they went up onto the roof and let him down with his bed through the tiles into the midst of the crowd “right in front of Jesus!” And it says in verse 20 that when Jesus saw THEIR FAITH, He said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven you.”
Jesus also knew what was in the hearts of the scribes and Pharisees; those who thought they knew it all, but were really blinded by the god of this world. How did Jesus respond? ‘But that YOU may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he said to the man who was paralyzed – “I say to you, rise, pick up your bed and go home.’ And immediately he rose up before them and picked up what he had been laying on and went home GLORIFYING God. And amazement seized them all, and they GLORIFIED God and were filled with awe, saying, “We have seen extraordinary things today.”
In my clinic practice I would see many people who were held in bondage by various addictions and circumstances. I see many within the body of Christ who are also being held in bondage by similar demons. Both groups have become paralyzed, unable to move off their “bed”. The meaning for “bed” in Greek (Strong’s Concordance) is: couch; to slant or slope, i.e. incline or recline: bow (down), be far spent, lay, turn to flight, wear away. I say to you this day, JESUS IS THE ANSWER! Sometimes God allows you to get to the place of total defeat; bowed down, spent, fearful, and totally exhausted with no place to go. He provides an escape for you through a friend, a healthcare provider, or family member who KNOWS of the GLORY of God and they bring you to the feet of Jesus. Jesus is the One who is able to pick you up off what you have been lying on; what you have kept hidden; what has paralyzed your very life! Trust Him to HEAL you fully this day; pick up your bed and come home, into His waiting arms!
My final example is in Luke as well, 7: 11-17. Jesus went to the to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went along with Him. As Jesus approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out—the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her. When the LORD saw her, He had compassion on her (His heart went out to her) and he said, “Don’t cry.” Then he went up and touched the coffin (bier), and those carrying it stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!” The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.
They were all filled with awe and PRAISED GOD. The widow’s situation was serious; she had no husband and had lost her only son. The widow may have been past the age of childbearing and would not marry again. Unless a relative came to her aid, her future looked bleak. She may very well have to beg for food. However, she is also just the kind of person that Jesus had come to help (Luke 4: 18) and He did! JESUS HAS THE DESIRE AND THE POWER TO BRING HOPE OUT OF ANY TRAGEDY! Hallelujah!
Now I would like to share a personal word with you that will tie all the above examples of God’s TRUTH into present day life. My husband and my sister had the privilege of working with Geordanie in 2008. He is the young pastor of a church in the center of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. It was a time of great blessing and many friendships were formed in the week we spent with some of the people in Haiti. We did not spend much time in Port-au-Prince, but traveled and ministered in more of the smaller villages surrounding Grand Guave and Petit Guave. The great devastation that has rocked the foundations of this country has been unimaginable for my husband and me. Haiti was already one of the most impoverished areas we have gone to even before this recent event. We were deeply concerned about Geordanie, his wife and four children, and the many others God had connected us to. I tried many times to reach him by phone and also contacted a friend in USA who has more direct contact with Geordanie. He had spoken with Geordanie four days after the quake and all were apparently well although they had not had food or water up to that point. Geordanie was thrilled that the church building had suffered only a minor fracture in one wall and that many people were coming to the church compound and were receiving Christ as LORD. PRAISE JESUS!
Toward the end of January Geordanie called me and all I seemed to be able to do was shed tears of relief and joy. At that time he was having a lot of problems in getting food and most importantly, water. Things weren’t easy and yet he was laughing and so happy to be talking with us! He expounded and glorified God for the lives He had spared, for the many who were receiving Jesus as LORD! His congregation had already grown to about 300 and this was a thing to celebrate! He and the people were praying God would send supplies of food and water soon along with some medicines. Then there was another long period of silence as I could not get him on the phone.
On Monday the 15th of February I received the call from Geordanie. The week before he had a bad fever but was feeling better. He was concerned about his wife and daughter who developed the high fever on the 11th and they still had no medical help. He asked for prayer for them and for the protection of his other two children, for the people of Haiti. He spoke very briefly about the many who had died, the many who have lost family and friends and then he laughed and said, “But God, He IS ALIVE and many things are happening here!”
(The next thing I ask each of you to do is consider and think on what I am about to write): Geordanie went on to say, “Sister Judy, on Friday (12th) we here in this church (now about 480+) decided to FAST and just PRAISE God for the LIFE He has ALLOWED us thus far! We also prayed God would bring provisions to us, food, clean water, and medicine. We PRAYED AND FASTED LIKE THIS right up to our Sunday (14th) service and about noon, Judy, God SHOWED UP! He sent some people to the church with boxes of food and water and they will return with medicine for my wife, my son, and others who need it! GOD IS SO FAITHFUL! Also Judy, many are coming to Christ, it is very good.”
To all who have ears to hear what the Spirit is saying this day:
“I give thanks to God for you, brothers, as it is right, because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of every one of you for one another is increasing. Therefore we ourselves boast about you in the churches of God for your steadfastness and faith in all your persecutions and in the afflictions you are enduring. To this end, I will always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of His calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by His power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
