BELIEVE (Part 1)

Now the LORD had said unto A’bram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:  and I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:  and I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.  (Genesis 12: 1, 2)  And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.  (Galatians 3: 29)

I have been greatly blessed by A. W. Tozer’s book, “Man- The Dwelling Place of God”.  He used Abraham as his example in part of the book and spoke of the newborn Christian as a ‘migrant (see Hebrews 11: 8-12); s/he has come into the kingdom of God from his old home in the kingdom of man and that s/he must get set for the violent changes that will inevitably follow’.  God used Abraham’s ‘walk of faith’ ( Genesis 11: 26 – 25: 10; Hebrews 11) as an example and as encouragement for each of us on our own spiritual journey.

One of the first changes in a new Christian’s life will be a shift of interest from earth to heaven, from men to God, from present time to eternity, and from earthly gain to Christ and His eternal kingdom.  Suddenly, or slowly but surely, s/he will develop a new pattern of life; old things pass away and behold, all things will become new, first inwardly and then outwardly.  The change within will soon begin to express itself by changes in his/her lifestyle (way of living).  One of the first confrontations the new Christian may very well face will be from those close to them and it can manifest in teasing, opposition, to outright persecution.  A. W. Tozer made a excellent point in saying,  ‘the man who hates his sins too much will get into trouble with those who do not hate sin enough.’

I am moved to declare, in Jesus’ name, the two opening passages of scripture… “over each of you as a special ‘word from God’ over your life and ministry.  God’s perpetual Presence with you will be your continual source of JOY and it will spring up and flow out in streams of abundant Life.  Strive to remain conscious of God’s Presence even in your busiest moments.  Talk with God about whatever delights you, whatever upsets you, whatever is on your mind.  These tiny steps of daily, disciplined faith, taken one after the other, will keep you close to Him in each the area He has placed you for this season of time. Your life is as a song of worship unto Jesus and your life will bring great glory to the Father.  Amen.”</em

  1. I believe the new believer should be taught to use his Mighty Weapons….as they change and grow…..to wait upon the Lord and experience His sweet presence, and His overpowering revelation. It will get them thru the tough times when people are skeptical. It overcomes so many things, including the fear of man!!

    • Thanks Vince…I’d like to add a few more thoughts to this in response.

      I see true faith as faith that brings about a spiritual and moral transforming and inward witness that cannot be mistaken. True faith comes when we stop believeing in belief and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ above everything. CHRIST alone! 🙂 The weapons of our warfare are only mighty THROUGH GOD…bringing into captivity every thought to the OBEDIENCE of Christ (the WORD). I like 1 John 5: 4;
      “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the VICTORY that overcometh the world, even our FAITH”. And in verse 14: “and this is the CONFIDENCE that we have IN HIM, that, if we ask any thing according to HIS WILL, He heareth us…vs 15, and we will have the petitions we ask of Him.” Praise God, what HOPE there is IN HIM! 🙂

  2. Thanks Doug ! I so enjoy hearing God’s Word written and spoken. His Word gives us all the direction and TRUTH we need for every day living… we just have to be obedient. God bless you.

    The Wind and the River

    Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel
    of the ungodly; nor standeth in the way of sinners,
    nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
    But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his
    law doth he meditate day and night.
    And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of
    water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season;
    His leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he
    doeth shall prosper.
    The ungodly are not so; but are like the chaff which
    the wind driveth away.
    Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the
    judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the
    righteous.
    For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous; but
    the way of the ungodly shall perish.

    Psalm 1

    Love,
    In Christ,

    • Thank you Simon. We are JOINT HEIRS with Jesus(all that belongs to Christ belongs to us through the Cross, which was done for us)! Praise God! The sufferings we go through in this present time are not worthy to be compared with the GLORY which shall be revealed in us (reflected from the glory of Christ)! Amen:) Abundant blessing and grace over you and your ministry, Bishop!
