BELIEVE (Part 2)

Generations

And A’bram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.  And A’bram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem (to incline the shoulder to a burden; to load up on the back of a man or beast; or, to start early in the morning (get oneself up), unto the plain of Moreh (point out, teach, inform through; sprinkling:  hence, a sprinkling (autumnal showers): – first rain (former rain).  And the Canaanite was then in the land.  And the LORD appeared unto A’bram, and said, Unto thy seed (disseminate, plant, fructify,:-sowing time, posterity:-  carnally, child, fruitful, seed (time) (see Galatians 3: 16) will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.  (Genesis 12: 5-7)

It was to Abraham and his seed that God’s PROMISE was made: the promised Seed, His Son, Jesus (see Joel 2: 23-32 -second rain(latter rain); Acts 14: 15-17; Zechariah 12).  Today, a whole new generation of Christians has come up believing that it is possible to “accept” Christ without forsaking the world.  But what does Holy Spirit say?  “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God” (James 4: 4), and “If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him” (1 John 2: 15).  This requires no comment, only obedience.

We may also assume that we can experience justification (Romans 3: 24; 4: 25; 5: 9; 2 Corinthians 5: 19-21; Hebrews 10: 14) without transformation: these can never be experienced apart from each other.  When God declares a man righteous He INSTANTLY sets about to make him righteous.  I believe our error today is that we do not expect a converted man to be a transformed man (renewed with visible character change), and as a result of this error, our churches are full of substandard Christians.  A revival is, among other things, a ‘return to the belief that real faith invariably produces holiness of heart and righteousness of life’.  We need to meditate on God’s Word, seek Him with all our hearts; and cry out to Him for daily cleansing of our inward parts (Psalm 51, Colossians 3: 12-17).  “Renew us Holy Spirit; empower us to be all we are destined to be in and through Christ, the Son of God, to the glory of our heavenly Father.”

  1. Huge amen, The transformation is an ever on-going process, from which we are being transformed daily, sometimes minute by minute, into the image of His Son, Thank you Jesus that you started this process by Your Spirit and will continue it till the hour we arrive “HOME”, All that’s required from us is obedience, praise God

    • For it is by GRACE (unmerited favor) that I am saved through faith and daily I am changed and begin taking into my spirit the very essence/nature of God. You are so right Ken; it IS a daily, moment to moment renewal that is enabled by the work of Holy Spirit (from inside to outside) 🙂

      • I agree, Luke 9:23 must be out goal in life. We need to constantly die to the yetzer hara, the evil inclination, in us. It is that old self, old nature or what ever you want to call it. It is always there tempting us to sin, to think more of ourselves than we should. Yeshua has overcome for us if we will give Him the place of Lord of our lives and give Him Praise. Blessings to all.

  2. Thank you for your post Larry. The Gospel and what it speaks to us is really very simple. Turn to Jesus, repent (turn away from sin), follow after Him (in faith and trust), and be doers of His Word (obey). It would seem that we have complicated His Word or diluted it so much.

I have to ask, “Do you believe we are or have been deceived by the traditions man has created by adding or subtracting from God’s Truth?” Your responses would be appreciated by all of us reading this. 🙂

I just had a brother in the Netherlands send me a utube video that you all may enjoy. I believe it is an older song, but it is a reminder to me of how much I love my Savior and my heavenly Father. Just click on right here: http://youtu.be/wXv5VVCizMQ turn on your sound and GIVE THANKS!
